This op-ed in the Clarion Ledger by the Women’s Fund is in response to criticism that schools shouldn’t provide sex education. The Women’s Fund points out that “more than 95 percent of Americans had sex before they were married and 76 percent of Mississippi high school students have had sex by the end of the 12th grade.” The article concludes by saying “continued progress in preventing teen pregnancy will require a combination of both responsible individual behavior and responsible policies, such as effective sex education in the schools. The Women’s Fund of Mississippi will continue to rely on scientific facts and high quality data to inform this public conversation on teen pregnancy.”
